Build an NDI switching system around the number of live sources, production resolution and required outputs. vMix combines software video switching with graphics, audio mixing, streaming and recording on a compatible Windows computer.
Choose an NDI switching software edition
vMix HD: an option for HD production. vMix 4K: an option when the production needs higher resolutions and additional output flexibility. vMix Pro: an option for productions that also need expanded replay and remote contribution capabilities. Review the current edition specifications and computer requirements before ordering.
How many NDI sources can the system handle?
A software input limit is not a guaranteed real-time camera count. Actual performance depends on resolution, frame rate, NDI format, decoding load, CPU, GPU, memory and network capacity. Test the intended mix of cameras, recordings, graphics and outputs together before a live event.
vMix supports NDI inputs across its editions. vMix 4K and Pro provide up to four separately configurable NDI outputs. Match the edition to the number of independent feeds you need, such as program, preview or a multiview, and confirm the receiving device’s supported format.
A network switch is different from a video switcher
A network switch moves data between devices. A video switcher selects and mixes pictures, adds transitions and produces a program feed. An HDMI or SDI production switcher does not automatically accept NDI cameras through its Ethernet control port. Confirm native NDI input support or add a compatible decoder for each required video path.
Bridge HDMI cameras and NDI workflows
The Kiloview N6 HDMI/NDI converter can serve as an encoder or decoder. Choose the operating mode and supported format for the required direction. Browse production switchers and cameras for the rest of the system.
Common applications
Plan multicamera coverage for houses of worship, teaching spaces, live events and studios around the full signal path: cameras, network, switching computer, operator control, audio, recording and delivery. Include HDMI/SDI conversion where existing equipment needs physical video connections.
